The pink thread that ties it all together: black humour, social commentary and a hint of kitsch. Which brings us back to the exhibition. Sauer collects odds and ends to turn them into art. 'KunstKitsch' is how she lovingly calls her colourful works – or 'Gruschd-Upcycling'.
It all sounds very naïve and colourful, but beware: You'll find that the light humour may turn pitch black quite suddenly. Like in the toy shop full of weapons. Behind the colourful knick-knackery of her works there lurks biting satire and sometimes scathing cynicism.
Sauer picks her material right out of our lives, the things we have come to un-love, the rejected, discarded stuff. Arranged anew, she serves it to us in this exhibition, our life. The way it is: Sweet and sour.
