The ‘young’ cultural heritage site Stadthaus cordially invites you all, families, technology- and architecture afficionados, tourists, regulars, and those who happen to wander in by accident, to (re-) discover the building through free guided tours!

In 2019, the 25-years old Stadthaus was added to the list of historical buildings of the state of Baden-Württemberg. We will not only open our doors on European Heritage Day, as we usually do, we are also offering a series of free guided tours. This year, pick from tours with a focus on architecture, a tour for families and children, and a tour focussing on technology.

12.30 am: Stadthaus Ulm. Focus architecture with Angelika Held
3 pm: About pool-ladders and flying carpets. Guided architectural tour for families with Silvia Keppler
4 pm: Focus Technology. Guided tour through the technical areas with technical manager Paul Stauber
Duration of all guided tours between 45 and 60 min.
Registration appreciated.

On 11 September, thousands of historical sites all over Germany are opening their doors. They are witnesses to the history of their inhabitants and builders, their very building fabric providing the evidence. Historical scars, additions and evolution are telling the building’s story, as well as that of those who lived there. A listed building can also be a victim. The European Heritage Day 2022 explores, which insights and evidence can be collected through the assessment of the original building fabric. What traces has human intervention left over the centuries? How many temporal layers are there? What happened to and within the building? And what do those conserving the historical sites learn from it? Following this year’s motto – ‘KulturSpur (lit. traces of culture). A case for the monument protection service.’ – the European Heritage Day extends an invitation to join the exploration of cultural traces, to discover both history and stories.
